Capture Returns Right at the Stop

A full return workflow the driver completes at the door — no paper slips, no back-office guesswork.

Home Returns at the Door

Returns happen on the route, so capture them there

Deliveries are rarely one-way. A customer hands back a wrong part, a warranty core, or something they over-ordered while the driver is already standing at the counter. Traditionally that means a scribbled note, a loose part in the truck, and a return that gets sorted out — or lost — hours later back at the dealership.

ScanIt Delivery lets the driver capture the whole return at the stop, the moment the parts change hands. Nothing waits for the truck to get back.

The return workflow, step by step

  1. Scan or key the parts. The driver scans the barcode on each part the customer is returning, or keys the part number when a barcode will not scan.
  2. Pick the invoice. The return is tied to the right invoice, so it is matched to the original order instead of floating free.
  3. Choose a reason. The driver selects why the part is coming back — wrong part, damaged, warranty core, over-shipped, and so on.
  4. Add a note. A short note captures anything the reason code does not, so the parts department has the full story.
  5. Upload. The completed return is submitted from the app and travels back with the rest of the stop's record.
Why it matters:

Because the return is recorded against the invoice with a reason and a note at the point of pickup, the parts department knows exactly what is coming back and why — before the truck even returns to the lot.

What the parts department gets

  • An accurate count. Returned parts are captured by barcode or part number, not from memory.
  • The reason attached. Every return carries a reason code, so credits and restocking can be handled correctly.
  • The invoice link. Returns tie back to the original invoice instead of arriving as loose parts nobody can place.
  • Context in the note. Free-text notes fill in the details a code cannot, cutting down on follow-up calls.
Note:

Returns capture is about recording what is coming back — the driver scans and documents the parts. Crediting, restocking, and posting still happen in your parts system and DMS, where they belong.

Fits into the same stop

The return workflow lives inside the delivery itself. A driver can confirm the parts being dropped off and capture the parts being handed back in the same visit, then finish the stop with the usual proof of delivery. One stop, both directions, one clean record.
